Lectotype (Wijnands, Bot. Commelins: 87. 1983): Herb. Linn. No. 1113.3 ( LINN) .

Current name: Xanthium spinosum L. ( Asteraceae ).

Note: The type choice made by Wijnands (Sep 1983) narrowly predates a different choice of Clifford material (BM) made by Alavi (in Jafri & El-Gadi, Fl. Libya 107: 123. Dec 1983).
