Lectotype (Christensen in Brit. Phycol. Bull. 3: 465, f. 1-4. 1968): [icon] " Conferva minima Byssi facie " in Dillenius, Hist. Musc.: 14, t. 2, f. 3. 1741. - Voucher: Herb. Dillenius ( OXF) .

Current name: Vaucheria fontinalis (L.) T.A. Chr. ( Vaucheriaceae ).

Note: Christensen (in Brit. Phycol. Bull. 3: 465. 1968) treated Dillenius’ description as the type but clearly included the cited plate as part of this. As a consequence, his statement is accepted as a formal typification for the name.
