( Plate 1 A, B, C View PLATE 1 )
Material examined. Sixteen adult females: IRAN: left label: 2963/ Fars province: / 3.5 km E Estahban/ 21.vii.2018 / N29˚06′40.6″/ E54˚04′32.8″; right label: Saissetia miranda / (Cock. & Parl.) [mis-spelling of an abbreviation of Parrott]/ on Ficus carica L. ( Moraceae )/ coll. H. Faghih (HMIM).
Comment: Saissetia miranda was described originally from Mexico; it is now much more widespread, but has not been recorded from Africa ( García Morales et al. 2016). The species is polyphagous, with a wide range of host plants. It has been recorded previously from Iran on Melia azedarach L. ( Meliaceae ) ( Moghaddam et al. 2015); here it is recorded as a pest of F. carica (Moraceae) from Estahban, Fars province, for the first time.
