An Australasian species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Rodentia : Muridae ; adults and nymphs have been collected from Dasyuromorphia : Dasyuridae , and Peramelemorphia : Peramelidae ; adults alone have been recovered from Carnivora : Felidae , and Diprotodontia : Potoroidae ; nymphs alone have been found on Dasyuromorphia : Myrmecobiidae ; undetermined stages have been taken from Carnivora : Canidae ; Diprotodontia : Macropodidae and Phalangeridae , and Perissodactyla : Equidae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Ash et al. 2017). Ixodes fecialis is a very rare parasite of humans.
