Redescriptions
F: Nuttall and Warburton (1911), Cooley and Kohls (1945), Keirans and Clifford (1978); see note below
Note: Ixodes diversifossus is known from two mutilated females, one of which is missing. This species is very similar to Ixodes boliviensis , as discussed in Keirans and Clifford (1978) and Guglielmone et al. (2009), among others; therefore, a comparison of types will be required to determine whether Ixodes boliviensis is a synonym of Ixodes diversifossus or a valid species. According to Keirans and Clifford (1978), Ixodes spinipalpis and Ixodes dentatus have frequently been confused with Ixodes diversifossus . Nuttall and Warburton (1911) state that the figures of Ixodes diversifossus in Banks (1908) are unreliable. See also Ixodes boliviensis for additional taxonomic problems that may have a bearing on the status of Ixodes diversifossus .
