An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages, including the undescribed nymph, are usually found on Rodentia : Thryonomyidae , but they have also been found on Rodentia : Muridae . Adults alone have been collected from Artiodactyla : Bovidae , Carnivora : Viverridae , and Rodentia : Hystricidae and Nesomyidae ; nymphs have been recovered from Passeriformes : Cisticolidae ; and larvae from Soricomorpha : Soricidae , and Galliformes : Numididae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Chitimia-Dobler et al. 2016). There are no records of Ixodes aulacodi causing human parasitism.
