15. Ixodes arboricola Schulze and Schlottke, 1929b View in CoL .
An Oriental and Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Aves (several orders). Larvae have rarely been collected from Carnivora : Canidae ; there are also occasional records of undetermined stages from Carnivora : Mustelidae , Chiroptera : Vespertilionidae , and Rodentia : Muridae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Maurelli et al. 2018). There are no records of Ixodes arboricola causing human parasitism.
M: Schulze and Schlottke (1929b)
F: Schulze and Schlottke (1929b)
N: Dzhaparidze (1950a), under the name Ixodes lagodechiensis , a synonym of Ixodes arboricola

Note: there are also several redescriptions of Ixodes arboricola under the genus Pholeoixodes that are not included in the above lists. Haarløv(1962) discusses the morphology of Ixodes arboricola in relation to the subspecies and related species created by Schulze, concluding that all of them are, in fact, Ixodes arboricola , as discussed in Guglielmone et al. (2017). However, Guglielmone et al. (2014, 2017) hypothesized that several species are included under the name Ixodes arboricola . In this regard, Clifford and Hoogstraal (1965) treat their diagnosis of Ixodes arboricola as tentative, and there are morphological differences between the redescriptions of Filippova (1977) and Clifford and Hoogstraal (1965), as well as between these and other redescriptions, such as those in Yu et al. (1997).
