Note: Arthur (1960c) notes the difficulties involved in morphologically separating specimens of what he calls the Ixodes percavatus and Ixodes auritulus groups. See also Ixodes kerguelenensis for its confusion with Ixodes percavatus . Camicas et al. (1998) list Ixodes percavatus as found in the Australasian Region, but Halliday (2012) states that Australasian records are misidentifications resulting from confusion with Ixodes eudyptidis and Ixodes kohlsi .
