An Australasian species also known from islands in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Procellariiformes : Procellariidae , and Sphenisciformes : Spheniscidae ; adults and nymphs have been collected from Procellariiformes : Diomedeidae . There are no records of Ixodes kerguelenensis causing human parasitism.
