An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae , Carnivora : Canidae and Herpestidae , and Rodentia : Nesomyidae ; adults and larvae have been collected from Carnivora : Felidae ; adults alone have been recovered from Artiodactyla : Giraffidae and Suidae , and Carnivora : Viverridae ; immature stages have been found on Hyracoidea : Procaviidae , Primates : Hominidae , Rodentia : Gliridae , Muridae and Sciuridae , and Galliformes : Numididae ( Matthysse & Colbo 1987, Guglielmone et al. 2014). Ixodes muniensis is a very rare parasite of humans.
