142. Ixodes minor Neumann, 1902 View in CoL .
A Nearctic and Neotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Rodentia : Cricetidae , Muridae and Sciuridae ; larvae and nymphs have been collected from Carnivora : Mephitidae , and Passeriformes (several families). There are no records of Ixodes minor causing human parasitism. M: Neumann (1902)
N: Smith and Gouck (1947), under the name Ixodes bishoppi , a synonym of Ixodes minor
L: Clifford et al. (1961), but see note below
Redescriptions

F: Nuttall and Warburton (1911), Smith and Gouck (1947, under the name Ixodes bishoppi ), Keirans and Clifford (1978), Keirans and Litwak (1989)
N: Durden and Keirans (1996)
L: Sénevet and Ripert (1967a)
Note: Cooley and Kohls (1945) treat Ixodes minor as a doubtful species, but its validity has been proven in subsequent studies. Smith and Gouck (1947) allegedly described the larva of Ixodes minor under the name Ixodes bishoppi , but this description is not recognized by Keirans and Clifford (1978). In fact, the morphological description in Smith and Gouck (1947) obviously differs from that of Ixodes minor in Clifford et al. (1961) , which is regarded by Keirans and Clifford (1978) and here as the first larval description.
