A Neotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Testudines : Testudinidae ; adults and nymphs have been collected from Squamata : Viperidae ; adults alone have been recovered from Testudines : Chelidae , Squamata : Boidae , and Anura : Bufonidae , and there is a record from Passeriformes : Turdidae . There are no records of Amblyomma argentinae causing human parasitism.

Note: Guglielmone et al. (2003) state that the descriptions of the male and female of Amblyomma argentinae in Conil (1877 , as Ixodes testudinis ) are sufficient to identify this species, but the spurs of coxae I and IV are not well depicted.
