A Nearctic and Neotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages have been found on Rodentia : Cricetidae ; females and nymphs have been collected from Rodentia : Heteromyidae ; nymphs alone have been recovered from Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae . There are no records of Ixodes sinaloa causing human parasitism.

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) state that the male of Ixodes sinaloa is described, but we have found no description of this stage.
