126. Amblyomma torrei Pérez Vigueras, 1934 View in CoL . Guglielmone et al. (2014)
listed this species as Nearctic and Neotropical, but all records of this species are from the Neotropics, specifically the Caribbean Islands, as previously stated by Guglielmone et al. (2003). All parasitic stages are usually found on Squamata : Tropiduridae ; nymphs alone have been collected from Squamata : Varanidae . There are no records of Amblyomma torrei causing human parasitism.

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) recognized only the description of the male of Amblyomma torrei as valid. Guglielmone et al. (2003) state that there are some morphological differences between the descriptions of the female of this species in Whittick (1939) and Černý (1966b), but there are also differences in the descriptions of the male and female of Amblyomma torrei in Voltzit (2007) and in Barros-Battesti et al. (2009). Additionally, Guglielmone et al. (2003) state that the morphological differentiation of Amblyomma torrei from Amblyomma cruciferum can be difficult and recommend reexamination of all specimens and comparison of the types. Therefore, the descriptions and redescriptions of Amblyomma torrei listed above include some degree of uncertainty.
