A Neotropical species whose adults have been found on Perissodactyla : Tapiridae ; nymphs have been collected from Artiodactyla : Tayassuidae , Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae , and Rodentia : Dasyproctidae . Amblyomma latepunctatum is a very rare parasite of humans.
