Redescription

Note: Kolonin (2009) treats Amblyomma hainanense as a synonym of Amblyomma helvolum , an opinion accepted by Sun et al. (2016) and probably by Chen et al. (2010), who include Amblyomma helvolum but not Amblyomma hainanense in their list of ticks present in China. However, no type comparisons were provided by these authors, and Amblyomma hainanense is treated here as provisionally valid until this situation is resolved.
