Note: Rageau and Vervent (1959) published as a new species Amblyomma laticaudae , a name preoccupied by Amblyomma laticaudae as described by Warburton (1933), based on three nymphs and a larva collected from a sea snake, but they did not describe the larva. Later, Rageau (1960) described the larva and recognized Amblyomma laticaudae Rageau and Vervent as a synonym of Amblyomma laticaudae Warburton. However , both names Amblyomma laticaudae Warburton and Amblyomma laticaudae Rageau and Vervent are synonyms of Amblyomma nitidum , as first recognized by Audy et al. (1960). The name Amblyomma laticaudae Rageau and Vervent was overlooked in the study of Guglielmone and Nava (2014).
