Note: Apanaskevich and Apanaskevich (2016) state that the illustrations of Dermacentor steini in Sun and Xu (2013) correspond, in fact, to Dermacentor tamokensis . Both species, Dermacentor tamokensis and Dermacentor steini , are found in Malaysia. Ernieenor et al. (2020) present morphological characteristics and molecular profiles of populations of Dermacentor steini from Malaysia without differentiating this species from Dermacentor tamokensis ; therefore, the data in Ernieenor et al. (2020) require confirmation.
