An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia : Sciuridae . Adults and nymphs have been collected from Rodentia : Muridae , and Soricomorpha : Soricidae ; adults alone have been recovered from Erinaceomorpha : Erinaceidae , and Carnivora : Mustelidae and Viverridae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis houyi causing human parasitism.
