An Oriental and Palearctic species whose adults and immature stages have been found on Artiodactyla : Cervidae and Suidae , Carnivora : Canidae , Lagomorpha : Leporidae , and Galliformes : Phasianidae ; adults alone have been collected from Artiodactyla : Bovidae and Moschidae , Carnivora : Ursidae , Pholidota : Manidae , and Rodentia : Hystricidae and Muridae ; immature stages have been recovered from Carnivora : Felidae , Herpestidae and Mustelidae , Chiroptera : Vespertilionidae , Scandentia : Tupaiidae , Charadriiformes : Scolopacidae , and Passeriformes : Corvidae , Muscicapidae and Turdidae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Iwakami et al. 2014, Khatri-Chhetri et al. 2016, Kuo et al. 2017). There are no records of Haemaphysalis formosensis causing human parasitism.
