Note: redescriptions of adults of Haemaphysalis warburtoni published before Hoogstraal (1966b) are not included in the above lists, while identifications of larvae and nymphs of this tick recorded prior to the study of Hoogstraal (1971c) are uncertain. Most, if not all, records and redescriptions of Haemaphysalis warburtoni from the former USSR correspond in fact to Haemaphysalis pospelovashtromae . Olenev (1931a) presents a succinct redescription of Haemaphysalis warburtoni with reproductions of the figures in the original description, but this does not support its presence in Russia. Hoogstraal (1971c) states that morphological variation in specimens of Haemaphysalis warburtoni from China and Nepal may indicate that more than one taxon exists under this name. See also Haemaphysalis pospelovashtromae and Haemaphysalis tibetensis for their confusion with Haemaphysalis warburtoni .
