An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae , but they have also been found on Mammalia (several orders); adults and the undescribed nymph have been collected from Carnivora : Felidae , and Rodentia : Hystricidae . Rhipicephalus ziemanni is a rare parasite of humans.

(2000); see note below Note: Elbl and Anastos (1966c) state that some specimens of Rhipicephalus ziemanni collected by them were of the “ Rhipicephalus aurantiacus type.” Camicas et al. (1998) listed the nymph of Rhipicephalus ziemanni as described, but we accept the opinion of Walker et al. (2000), who state that it remains undescribed. See also Rhipicephalus aurantiacus for that species’ proposed synonymy with Rhipicephalus ziemanni .
