An Oriental species whose larvae and nymphs have been found on Rodentia : Muridae ; larvae alone have been collected from Rodentia : Cricetidae , and Soricomorpha : Soricidae . There are no records of Rhipicephalus tetracornus causing human parasitism.

Note: Kitaoka and Suzuki (1983) state that it is not absolutely certain that the larva described by them represents Rhipicephalus tetracornus . Kolonin (2009) does not include this species in his list of the Ixodidae of the world, and Walker et al. (2000) treat Rhipicephalus tetracornus as incertae sedis. However, Guglielmone et al. (2009, 2010, 2014, 2015) and Guglielmone and Nava (2014) found no clear reason to declare Rhipicephalus tetracornus invalid.
