A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia : Sciuridae , but all parasitic stages have also been collected from Carnivora : Canidae and Mustelidae , Lagomorpha : Leporidae and Ochotonidae , Rodentia : Muridae , and Accipitriformes : Accipitridae . Adults and nymphs have been recorded from Rodentia : Dipodidae , and larvae and nymphs have been collected from Mammalia (several orders). Rhipicephalus schulzei is a rare parasite of humans.

Note: Walker et al. (2000) and Guglielmone et al. (2014) state that Rhipicephalus schulzei was described in Olenev (1929d), but it actually was published in Olenev (1929a), as indicated in Olenev (1931a), Filippova (2008) and Guglielmone et al. (2015). Filippova (1997) states that the redescription of Rhipicephalus schulzei in Zumpt (1939) corresponds, in fact, to Rhipicephalus pumilio .
