An Afrotropical species whose adults have been found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae ; nymphs alone have been collected from Rodentia : Muridae ; larvae alone have been recovered from Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae . There are no records of Rhipicephalus pseudolongus causing human parasitism.

Note: Guglielmone et al. (2009, 2014) treat Rhipicephalus pseudolongus as provisionally valid. Walker et al. (2000) stress the difficulties involved in morphologically separating this species from related taxa and propose a reexamination of the types of all species involved in this problem, especially Rhipicephalus cliffordi (not recognized in Walker et al. 2000), Rhipicephalus compositus , Rhipicephalus longus and Rhipicephalus pseudolongus , but also Rhipicephalus senegalensis .
