Type Locality: Madagascar, west of Mananjary.
Vernacular Names: Milne-Edwards's Sifaka.
Synonyms: Propithecus bicolor Gray 1872 ; Propithecus holomelas Günther 1875 .
Distribution: Between Mangoro and Mananara Rivers.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN – Endangered as P. diadema edwardsi .
Discussion: Recognized as a full species by Groves (2001 c).
