Type : ANGOLA. Without locality, s.d., Welwitsch 6836 (lectotype, designated here: BM 922629 !; isolectotypes: BM 922630 !, LISU 221080 About LISU , LISU 221081 About LISU , MPU 011475 About MPU ) .
Note: Hooper annotated the lectotype ( BM 922629) as such in 1971, but to the best of our knowledge that decision was never formally published, so we publish it here.
Homotypic synonyms: Nemum angolense (Clarke) Larridon & Goetghebeur (in Larridon et al. 2008 publ. 2009: 158). Scirpus spadiceus (Lamarck) Boeckeler var. ciliatus Ridley (1884: 156-157) , nom. illeg., non Scirpus ciliatus Rottbøll (1772: 26) .
Heterotypic synonyms: Scirpus ustulatus Podlech (1961: 118) . Type: ZAMBIA. Luapula Province: Kawambwa, 21 June 1957, Robinson 2323 (lectotype, designated by Larridon et al. 2008 publ. 2009: 160: K 000416801!; isolectotypes: GENT!, MT, P, SRGH).
