Type Locality: C Taiwan, Taichusiu, Horigai, Shohosha.
Vernacular Names: Taiwanese Gray Shrew.
Distribution: Taiwan, from sea level up to 2,200 m ( Fang et al., 1997).
Discussion: Originally described as a species, C. tanakae was subsequently sunk into synonymy of C. attenuata ( Fang et al., 1997) . Differences in the karyotype (Motokawa et al., 1997, 2001 b) led to a renewed recognition of the species ( Fang and Lee, 2002).
