Schlechter published two names in the same paper: Eulophidium ambongense Schltr., Ann. Mus. Colon. Marseille View in CoL , sér. 3, 1: 182 (1913); Eulophia ambongensis Schltr., Ann. Mus. Colon. Marseille View in CoL , sér. 3, 1: 169 (1913).
Garay & Taylor moved both these species to Oecoclades and chose to keep the epithet for the former and so for the latter used a later synonym, Eulophidium perrieri Schltr. (Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. Beih. 33: 256. 1925). Thus, we have Oeceoclades ambongensis (Schltr.) Garay & P.Taylor and Oeceoclades perrieri (Schltr.) Garay & P.Taylor , but when these concepts are considered species of Eulophia , then the latter reverts to its original name, which was first described in Eulophia and the former must use the later synonym, Eulophia schlechteri H.Perrier , (Bull. Soc. Bot. France 82: 154. 1935). We present these two treatments below for clarity.
