Genus Peropteryx Peters, 1867

The genus Peropteryx includes five species that are widely distributed across the Neotropics (Lim et al., 2010; Simmons and Cirranello, 2020). Species of Peropteryx are distinguished from members of other emballonurid genera by having a naked (unfurred) face, a wing attachment at the ankle, and a poorly developed wing sac located near the leading edge of the membrane. Lim et al. (2010) summarized morphological characters and measurements that are useful for distinguishing species of Peropteryx , of which they reported three from the Yavarí-Ucayali interfluve: P.kappleri , P. leucoptera , and P. pallidoptera .
