Elaphrus ruscarius Say, 1830b: (1) [3]. Type locality: "Columbia [Lancaster County], P[ennsylvani]a" (neotype label). Neotype (♂), designated by Lindroth and Freitag (1969: 332), in MCZ [# 33085]. Note. "Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri and the Rocky Mountains" were the areas originally cited by Say (1830b: (1) [3]).
Elaphrus texanus Casey, 1924: 17. Type locality: "Galveston [Galveston County], Texas" (original citation). Lectotype (♀), designated by Lindroth (1975: 113), in USNM [# 46828]. Synonymy established by Lindroth (1961a: 119).
Distribution.
This species ranges from southern Quebec to northern Minnesota, south to eastern Texas (Casey, 1924: 17, as Elaphrus texanus ), east-central Louisiana (Allen 1965: 61), southwestern Alabama ( Löding 1945: 11), and northern Florida (Peck and Thomas 1998: 16) [see Goulet 1983: Fig. 168].
