Habitat. Mountainous meadows and grasslands, found only above 600 m a. s. l. Zoogeographical distribution type. Broad range endemism ( Croatia and Slovenia). Distribution in Croatia. Alpine region (Velebit and Kapela Mts.). Mršić (1984, 1986): Jelenc, Bijele stijene, Krasanska duliba, Risnjak, Zavižanski Pivčevac; Hackenberger: Jasenak, Lič.

Ecological category. Endogeic.

Habitat. Synanthropic subspecies found in gardens, pastures, cultivated soils, forests, floodplains and near freshwater. Usually more abundant in moist, highly organic soils.

Zoogeographical distribution type. Peregrine.

Distribution in Croatia. Spread all over Croatia. Continental, Alpine and Mediterranean region. Michaelsen (1908): Klis; Šapkarev (1979): Orahovica, Split, Novska, Zaprešić; Jelić (1985): Sakadaško jezero, Podunavlje; Hackenberger: Kopačevo, Osijek, Turkovići.

Jura, Tulove Grede, Zavižan, Plitvička jezera; Zicsi (1969): Metković; Hackenberger: Breze.

Remark. Csuzdi and Pop (2008) revised the All. sturanyi species complex and distinguished 3 subspecies: All. sturanyi sturanyi , All. sturanyi dacica (Pop, 1938) and All. sturanyi dacidoides Bouché, 1973. According to that revision only All. sturanyi sturanyi is distributed in the North-Western Balkan.
