Odontothrips loti (Haliday) View in CoL

Odontothrips qinlingensis Feng & Zhao, 1994: 1 View in CoL . syn. n.

Odontothrips yinggeensis Feng & Zhang, 2000: 36 View in CoL . syn. n.

No European specimens of this species have been studied, the identification being based on descriptions in Stannard (1968: 328), Han (1997: 242-244), Mirab-balou & Chen (2011: 946), Moritz et al. (2001), Pitkin (1972), and zur Strassen (2003). The holotype and paratypes of O. qinglingensis and O. yinggeensis View in CoL were re-examined. O. qinglingensis was compared originally with O. biuncus John View in CoL but is here considered a synonym of O. loti View in CoL because of the following character states: fore tibial apex ventrally with claw-like process near outer margin and a seta-bearing tubercle near inner margin; fore tarsus with a small tubercle on inner margin; tergites IV–VIII with no sculpture mesad of setal pair S2; fore wing uniformly brown except a pale basal band. O. yinggeensis View in CoL was compared originally with O. qinglingensis , and no further differences could be found except for the numbers of the setae on the fore wing, and the shading of the dark bands on the anterior margin of the abdominal tergites. However, these are considered to represent intra-specific variation within O. loti View in CoL .
