Distribution

China (Shaanxi), Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Russia (Far East), S. Finland.

Diagnosis

Forewing length 7.0 mm. The species is characterized by the larger basal patch occupying 3/4 basal area of the forewing ( Figure 9 View Figures 7–12 ). The male genitalia of this species are similar to those of A. comptana , but they can be distinguished by the sacculus with an obtuse projection, an aedeagus about 2/3 the length of the valva, and the cucullus slightly expanded apically ( Figure 34 View Figures 32–37 ). In A. comptana , the sacculus has a sharp projection, the aedeagus is about 1/3 the length of the valva, and the cucullus is slightly narrowed apically.

Distribution

Hostplants

Salicaceae : Populus tremula , P. nigra . ( Bradley 1979).

Diagnosis

Forewing length 7.0–8.0 mm. This species is characterized by the grayish-brown ovoid basal patch ( Figure 10 View Figures 7–12 ). It is similar to A. amplimacula in facies and male genitalia. The differences between them are given in the diagnosis of A. amplimacula . It is also superficially similar to A. hemicatharta , but can be distinguished by the rectangular cucullus, the sacculus with a large sharp projection, and the indistinct neck ( Figure 35 View Figures 32–37 ), and the scalariform sterigma ( Figure 56 View Figures 55–60 ). In A. hemicatharta , the cucullus is kidney-shaped; the sacculus has an obtuse projection; the neck is distinct; and the sterigma is funneled.
