Leptocera rhadinofulva Buck , new species

Description. Very similar to L. fulva , with the following differences ( Figs. 260–263 ): Posterior section of surstylus yellow (medium to dark brown in L. fulva ), with long medial bristle slightly more tapered apically; bristles of apical series with fine tips, mostly slender but increasing in robustness toward apical bristle which is stout. Male cercus distinctly longer than in L. fulva , clearly surpassing apex of posterior section of surstylus, base wider and with somewhat angulate inner margin (base of cercus not widened in L. fulva , with inner margin nearly straight).

Female terminalia ( Figs. 264–266 ) similar to L. fulva but sternite 7 less produced posteromedially (at most as in Fig. 266 , usually less).

Etymology. The species name refers to the slender, tapered bristles of the apical series of the posterior portion of the surstylus (Gr. rhadinos: slender, tapering).

Distribution. Widespread in tropical South America from Venezuela and Ecuador (east of the Andes) to northern Argentina below 1,600 m.
