Oncometopia unispina View in CoL new species

Description. Size (males): 9.8–10.2 mm. Other external characters as in O. orbona .
Coloration ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 A–D). Similar to O. clarior , O. obtusa , and O. lepida .
Male terminalia. Similar to O. lepida and O. pelvica , but basal process of aedeagus ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 E, F) with small accessory spine (in all studied specimens on right side). Subapical process of aedeagus significantly shorter than basal process and not nearly reaching its apex.
Female terminalia. Unknown.
Distribution. Costa Rica and Panama.
Types. Holotype male [TAMU]: COSTA RICA, CARTAGO, Juan Viñas , 05.viii.1990, W.F. Chamberlain . Paratypes: COSTA RICA, SAN JOSE, Cerros de Escazu , 4 km S of Escazu, 22.viii.1992, M.W. Nielson [1Ƌ, INBIO] ; 5 km S of San Antonio , 01.iii.1993, Nielson & More [1Ƌ, INBIO] .
Additional material examined. PANAMA, CHIRIQUI, Reserva La Fortuna, Est. Biologica, 25–28.vi.1996, Gillogly & Schaffner [1Ƌ, TAMU].
Etymology. The name refers to the small accessory spine on the basal process of the male aedeagus.
