Gymnetis bouvieri Bourgoin, 1912

Gymnetis flavomarginata , not Blanchard, 1842: Burmeister 1866, in part: 576 (distribution; natural history); Hayward 1942: 14

(natural history); Hayward 1960: 24 (natural history): misidentifications.

Literature food records. ARGENTINA View in CoL : Catamarca: “Cata- / marca” (printed on green paper), near the city, 1 ex. (HBBA) (orange spots), in flowers of Cereus (Cactaceae) View in CoL ( Burmeister 1866), see Note below; Tucumán: (locality not stated), adults “affecting the foliage of various plants” ( Hayward 1942, 1960).

Note. Burmeister (1861, 1943) also mentioned in the south of Catamarca, “one Cereus View in CoL with few ribs (5 to 6), that shows a beautiful fruit, red color, entirely smooth, with the size of a duck’s big egg”, and that “besides the red fruits, it had the adornment of great white flowers” (translated from Spanish). This description, especially by the size, color and shape of the fruit, corresponds to Cereus aethiops (Cactaceae) ( Di Iorio, personal observation).

New food record. ARGENTINA View in CoL : Chaco: Las Hacheras, II-2007, 1 ex. (EAPW), feeding on sap of Ziziphus mistol (Rhamnaceae) View in CoL .
