D i s t r i b u t i o n: Europe (north to the Arctic Circle, south to the mountainous areas of southern Spain; also Portugal and central Italy), Balkans, Ukraine, northern and eastern Turkey, European Russia, northern Kazakhstan. Occurs also in China and Japan originally was described by ŠPATENKA & GORBUNOV (1992) as Synanthedon herzi.
R e m a r k s: this species inhabiting Salix sp. seems to be rather rare in eastern Turkey although there is plenty of food plant present.
