Pteromenes Giordani Soika 1960: 389 View in CoL , 407, genus. Type species: Pterochilus paradisiacu s Giordani Soika, 1941, by original designation and monotypy. Syn. nov.

Diagnosis. Large-sized “odynerine” wasps characterized by the following combination of characters: mandibles with strongly projecting pointed teeth and dense fringe of long setae near ventral margin, rounded interantennal region, pronotal carina interrupted below humeri, posteriorly rounded tegula, large axillary fossa, T1 semicircular in shape, T2 wider than long, S1 posteriorly depressed, prestigma shorter than pterostigma, tarsal claws with an accessory basal sharp tooth, clypeus finely sculpted and without coarse punctures, female labial palpi long and robust, three-segmented but sometimes with a rudimentary fourth segment, female vertex without cephalic foveae, male clypeus longer than wide, male antenna simple apically, male fore tibia depressed on outer face.

Included species. Rhynchagris mediocarinata (Giordani Soika) , Rhynchagris paradisiaca (Giordani Soika) comb. nov., Rhynchagris vicaria luteopicta (Maidl) , Rhynchagris vicaria vicaria (Stadelmann) , Rhynchagris zebra Gusenleitner.
