Material examined. MADEIRA: [ MZH]. Rabaçal, 1080m, 3♁, 1♀ 17.vii–4.viii.1935 (O. Lundblad); Pico Ruivo, 1♀ 19.vi.1957 (H. Lindberg); Queimadas, 4♀ 24‒26.vi.1957 (H. Lindberg); Poiso ‒ Arieiro, 1♀ 24‒26.vi.1957 (H. Lindberg) .
Description. Medium sized, wing length 6.0–7.0 mm (n = 5). Male: Ground colour dark, extensively greyish pruinose, except for ochre yellow basal antennal segments, ochre yellow legs (apart from tarsi and fore coxa) and sternite V lobes; usual pattern of four dark stripes visible on mesonotum in posterior view; wing with both cross-veins faintly shadowed; abdomen with traces of a median narrow stripe flanked by small, oval dark marks on tergites III and IV. Eyes bare. Longest aristal branches longer than width of postpedicel. Male frons at narrowest point 0.8–1.5 times as wide as diameter of anterior ocellus with contiguous or narrowly separated fronto-orbital plates. Dorsocentral setae 2 + 3; presutural acrostical field with setulae only arranged in 2–4 irregular rows; prealar seta only slightly longer and stronger than adjacent ground setulae; katepisternal setae 2 + 2. Vein C with dorsal setulae somewhat irregular or (rarely) absent. Fore tibia with 1 p seta; mid tibia with 0 ad and 2–3 pd setae; hind femur with 1–3 short pv seta on middle third; hind tibia with 1 av, 3 ad setae and 1 pd seta on basal third. Abdomen relatively long and slender, conical; sternite V and hypopygium as in Figs 12A–C View FIGURE 12 . Female: Apart from usual sexual differences of the head and abdomen differing from the male by having a complete row of dorsal setulae on vein C, fore tibia with a short ad seta and hind femur without pv setae.
Distribution. Endemic to Madeira.
