Type Locality: Uganda, Ruwenzori East, 6,000 ft. (= Mubukee Valley, 1829 m).
Vernacular Names: Niobe's Shrew.
Distribution: Montane forests of EC Africa ( Uganda, Dem. Rep. Congo); perhaps Ethiopia.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Ethiopian records ( Corbet and Yalden, 1972; Yalden et al., 1976) uncertain; see Hutterer and Yalden (1990).
