Cyrtocapsus paraguaiensis Carvalho 1985: 271 (original description; Paraguay); Henry & Carvalho 1987: 293 (key); Schuh 1995: 542 (catalog), 2002–2013 (online catalog).

Diagnosis. This distinctive species ( Fig. 48 ), with the overall yellowish-brown to brownish-orange coloration, contrasting with the fuscous calli, scutellum, clavus, basal half of the corium and inner half of the cuneus, and pale yellowish-white antenna and legs, cannot be confused with any other species of the genus.

It is most similar to C. guianus ( Fig. 31 ) in the overall yellowish-brown to brownish-orange coloration, but the latter differs in lacking the fuscous area across the calli and the corium is darkened only along the inner margin bordering the clavus.

Description. Male (n = 2): Length to apex of membrane 3.62–3.81 mm, length to base of cuneus 2.50–2.53 mm, widest width across hemelytra 1.60–1.66 mm. Head: Width 0.78–0.82 mm, interocular width mm. Labium: Length 0.82–0.83 mm. Antenna: Segment I length 0.46–0.48 mm; II, 0.54–0.56 mm; III, 0.43–0.45 mm; IV (n = 1), 0.54 mm. Pronotum: Median length 0.99–1.01 mm, basal width 1.36–1.38 mm.

Coloration: Head yellowish brown, clypeus, mandibular plate, and ventral surface darker brown. Labium pale yellowish white. Antenna yellowish white, apices of segments II and III slightly darker brown. Pronotum yellowish brown, broadly fuscous across calli. Scutellum fuscous, slightly paler through middle. Hemelytron yellowish brown, with clavus except apex and basal two thirds of corium dark brown to fuscous; cuneus dark brown, with outer margin yellowish brown; membrane clear to translucent, vein yellowish, slightly darker through middle, inside of areole smoky brown. Ventral surface of thorax dark brown; abdomen brown, with ovipositor and genital segments yellow to yellowish brown. Legs uniformly yellowish white, with only last tarsomere and claws slightly darker pale brown.

Texture and vestiture: Head impunctate, rugose, shiny, weakly transversely striate, with silvery, sericeous setae at base of vertex, along middle of frons and inner margins of eyes, and across striations. Pronotum weakly shiny, evenly punctate, more finely punctate on collar and calli; collar and calli with dense silvery, sericeous setae, disc with short, recumbent, scattered silvery setae. Scutellum finely punctate, with dense silvery, sericeous setae. Hemelytron dull, impunctate, with scattered silvery, sericeous setae.

Male genitalia: Left paramere ( Fig. 91 ) open C-shaped, slender, apically hooked. Right paramere ( Fig. 92 ) Lshaped, narrowing distally and apically rounded.

Female ( Fig. 48 ) (n = 5; holotype measurements in parentheses): Length to apex of membrane 3.68–4.00 mm (3.76 mm), length to base of cuneus 2.48–2.68 mm (2.72 mm), widest width across hemelytra 1.54–1.65 mm (1.54 mm). Head: Width 0.78–0.80 mm (0.77 mm), interocular width 0.40–0.42 mm (0.38 mm). Labium: Length 0.80–0.83 mm (0.70 mm). Antenna: Segment I length 0.45–0.50 mm (0.45 mm); II, 0.51–0.58 mm (0.51 mm); III (n = 3), 0.42–0.43 mm (0.45 mm); IV (n = 2), 0.74–0.77 mm (0.69 mm). Pronotum: Median length 0.96–1.09 mm (0.91 mm), basal width 1.34–1.39 mm (1.28 mm).

Host. Unknown.

Distribution. Previously known only from Paraguay ( Carvalho 1985). Bolivia is a new country record.

Type material examined. Holotype ♀: PARAGUAY: San Luis, [no date], Reimoser coll. ( USNM).

Other specimens examined. BOLIVIA: 2 ♂♂, 8 ♀♀ , Dept. La Paz , Prov. Sud Yungas, Puente Ville, 4300’, 19–24 May 1989, J.E. Eger (1 ♂, 7 ♀♀, TAMU; 1 ♂, 1 ♀, USNM) .
