( Figs. 55 View FIGURES 49–57 , 97, 98 View FIGURES 85–98 )

Diagnosis. Cyrtocapsus spatulatus ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 49–57 ) is recognized by the overall black body, the pale antennal segment I, with the apical third to half fuscous, the largely fuscous antennal segment II, with only the base pale; the uniformly yellowish-white legs, including the coxae; and the broadly rounded right paramere ( Fig. 98 View FIGURES 85–98 ).

It is similar to several other black species, with pale legs, such as C. elutipes ( Figs. 20–22 View FIGURES 18–28 ) and C. pallipes ( Figs. 44, 45 View FIGURES 40–48 ) but differs from the former by the color of antennae and the large spatulate right paramere and from the latter by the color of the antennae, the white middle and hind coxae (versus brown), and the right paramere ( Fig. 98 View FIGURES 85–98 ).

Description. Male ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 49–57 ) (n = 4; plus holotype measurements in parentheses): Length to apex of membrane 3.90–4.08 mm (4.08 mm), length to base of cuneus 2.64–2.76 mm (2.68 mm), widest width across hemelytra 1.70– 1.79 mm (1.73 mm). Head: Width 0.88–0.90 mm (0.85 mm), interocular width 0.43–0.45 mm (0.42 mm). Labium: Length 0.91–0.98 mm (0.91 mm). Antenna: Segment I length 0.54–0.59 mm (0.58 mm); II, 0.74–0.77 mm (0.75 mm); III (n = 2), 0.50–0.51 mm (missing); IV (n = 2), 0.64–0.66 (missing). Pronotum: Median length 1.02–1.07 mm (0.99 mm), basal width 1.46–1.49 mm (1.39 mm).

Coloration: Head black, with mandibular and maxillary plates paler brown. Labium yellowish brown, apex of segment IV darker brown. Antennal segment I pale yellowish white, with apical third to half fuscous; segment II fuscous or black, with basal fifth pale; segments III and IV missing. Pronotum, scutellum and hemelytron uniformly black. Ventral surface uniformly black. Legs uniformly pale yellowish white.

Texture and vestiture: Head weakly shiny, rugose, finely punctate on vertex, frons transversely striate, with silvery, sericeous along inner margins of eyes, at base of vertex, and along median line. Pronotum shiny, disc coarsely punctate, calli and collar more finely punctate, with dense silvery setae on calli and collar and finer, more scattered setae on disc. Scutellum evenly and finely punctate, with dense silvery, sericeous setae. Hemelytron dull, impunctate, with numerous scattered silvery sericeous setae.

Male genitalia: Left paramere ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 85–98 ) C-shaped, with a sharp apical hook. Right paramere ( Fig. 98 View FIGURES 85–98 ) broad, paddle-shaped and apically rounded.

Female (n = 5): Length to apex of membrane 4.04–4.20 mm, length to base of cuneus 2.68–2.80 mm, widest width across hemelytra 1.68–1.84 mm. Head: Width 0.86–0.88 mm, interocular width 0.42–0.45 mm. Labium: Length 0.91–1.01 mm. Antenna: Segment I length 0.51–0.54 mm; II, 0.67–0.75 mm; III (n = 3), 0.42–0.53 mm; IV missing. Pronotum: Median length 0.99–1.07 mm, basal width 1.39–1.54 mm.

Etymology. The specific epithet “ spatulatus ” refers to the broad or spatulate, apically rounded right paramere of this species.
