Type specimens. Holotype: male (photographed), CHINA: Mt. Ailao Shan (24°44'N, 100°54'E), Yunnan Province, 8.III.1988. Paratypes: 3 males, 12 females (one of them photographed), same data as holotype. (The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Nankai University, Tianjin, China)

Diagnosis. Moderately large size, total length 3.80–4.05; dorsum with dark spots; interocular distance wider than width of eye; antennal segment I with a black ring at base and black marks at the middle, length of antennal segment II shorter than width of pronotum; all tibiae pale basally; body of endosoma relatively stout, S-shaped, with two apical spines ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 24 – 35 ). Most easily confused with C. uncum , similar in general coloration, shape and size, fronte with reddish brown radial stripes. They can be easily separated by the structures of endosoma. In C. uncum , one apical spine of the endosoma, unciform, but in C. ailaoshanensis , apical spines weakly bend, not unciform. In addition, antennal segment II of C. uncum longer than width of pronotum. Most similar to C. eximium in general coloration, but can be distinguished by the structure of endosoma, and tibiae darkened at base in C. eximium .

Description. Male ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ): Total length 3.80–3.87, elongate ovoid.

Coloration: General coloration yellowish brown; pronotum and hemelytra with dense, dark brown spots; frons with reddish brown radial stripes; eye black brown; coloration of antenna dirty yellow; apex of clypeus slightly darkened; labium yellow, black apically; exposed part of mesoscutum orange-red with brown spots; apex of scutellum weakly darkened; hemelytra yellowish brown, cuneus pale at base, membrane fumose with large pale marks; legs dark yellow, femora with dark spots; tibial spines dark with black base, all tibiae pale at base; tarsal segment III and claws darkened; abdomen yellowish brown with golden setae and each side of venter with a line of reddish brown spots.

Suface and structure: Dorsum impunctate, moderately shining, covered with recumbent, dark, simple setae and silvery setae; head weakly declining; clypeus visible in dorsal view; frons and vertex broad and slightly convex in dorsal view, posterior margin of vertex straight; interocular distance longer than width of eye; eyes almost occupying entire height of head in lateral view; antennal segment II shorter than width of pronotum; labium long, exceeding hind coxae; Pronotal disc evenly rounded, calli clear; hemelytra nearly parallel-sided, weakly deflexed at cuneal suture; membrane relatively developed, veins obvious; claws slender, weakly curving, pulvillus small; metathoracic scent-gland evaporative area as in Fig. 21 View FIGURES 21 – 23 ; genital capsule large relative to total size of abdomen.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 24–27 View FIGURES 24 – 35 ): Body of endosoma relatively stout, S-shaped, with two apical spines, secondary gonopore large, located below apical spines; left paramere boat-shaped; right paramere lanceolate; phallotheca bending and attenuate apically.

Female ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ): Total length 3.98–4.05. Slightly bigger than male, ovoid, general coloration similar to male.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. Named for the area (Mt. Ailao Shan, China) where the type material was found.
