Diagnosis. Body elongated, narrow and subparallel; pronotum with a small smooth area in the middle of the posterior region, 1st–5th dorsal striae and sutural stria complete, 5th dorsal and sutural striae united anteriorly; mesosternum with thick punctuation.

Redescription. Length (pronotum+elytra): 5.8 mm; width: 3.7 mm.

Pronotum punctuated with only a small smooth antescutellar area. Elytra with marginal and external subhumeral striae united posteriorly, internal subhumeral stria indicated by a row of points on the posterior two-thirds, reaching the humeral stria; 1st–5th dorsal striae and sutural stria complete, 3th and 4th striae united posteriorly, 5th and sutural striae united anteriorly ( Fig. 3 E). Pro-, meso-, metasternum and 1st abdominal sternum respectively 0.38, 0.04, 0.35 and 0.23 times as long as total length of these sterna (5.4 mm). Mesosternum with thick punctuation ( Fig. 3 F). Protibiae with spaces between the teeth increasing from base to apex; mesotibiae with 5 teeth with spines on the external margin. Propygidium 1.9 times as wide as long, almost completely smooth on the disc; pygidium 1.3 times as wide as long.

Remarks. The type specimens have thick punctuation on the mesosternum, while the specimen from Napo has no punctuation on the mesosternum.

Type material. The specimen illustrated by the figures 3E and 3F (labels) is herein designed as the LECTO- TYPE of the species ( BMNH). “Canelos; Ecuador / Ebonius aequatorius ; Type; Lewis / George Lewis Coll. B. M. 1926-369 / Type ”.
