Description: Color: Dark brown to reddish-brown throughout with faint metallic sheen; antennae, base of middle and hind femora, middle and hind tibiae and tarsi pale yellowish.
Size range: Male (n = 51) 5.1 x 2.0 mm to 6.9 x 2.5 mm; Female (n = 59) 5.2 x 2.1 mm to 6.4 x 2.6 mm. Head elongate, sub-rectangular, very slightly widened at base, very densely punctured; interspaces rugose, transversely strigate at base; frons wide, more than ½ as wide as rostral base; with rugosely punctured median concavity. Rostrum shorter than head, distinctly widened beyond antennal insertions; apex about ½ wider than rostral base; densely punctured. Antennae short, shorter than head and rostrum together; scape and funicle segment 1 ovo-globose; scape longer, more robust; funicle segments 2–4 more elongate, clavate; segments 5–7 shorter, bead like; club short; basal and middle segments subequal in length; basal segment more conical; terminal segment longer, acuminate. Pronotum wider than long, arched out above procoxae; interspaces transversely strigate and with numerous irregular punctures; disk with pair of deep pit like impressions each side of middle; with oval weakly raised strigate area at center of disk; postocular area with small denticle; postero-lateral corner with denticulate projection; anterior collar wide, band like, distinctly set off by deep line like groove; densely punctured and strigate; basal carinae, narrow, subequal through middle. Scutellum subtrapezoidal, at base about 1/3 wider than long, densely punctured; sides sinuate, posterior margin broadly rounded. Elytra longer than wide, slightly narrowed from humeri to apices; elytral suture distinctly separated for short distance just behind scutellum; strial punctures irregularly spaced within strial row; rows appearing broken or incomplete; some striae fused into short deep grooves near elytral base; intervals densely punctured, rugose; intervals 6 and 7 distinctly costate at lateral declivity; humeri simple; with distinct pointed triangular posthumeral projection. Abdominal ventrites moderately setose, moderately punctured; punctures more dense laterally.
Femoral sexual dimorphism: The profemur in males is armed with a single short pointed disti-ventral spine like projection. A narrowly oval setose sensillum is present in the mid-ventral area. The profemur of the female has a disti-ventral pointed spine like projection like that of the male.
Distribution: Most specimens examined were from the Dominican Republic. A single male specimen is recorded from Haiti and four females are recorded from Puerto Rico.
Comments: The dense punctuation of the head, the transversely rugose bifoveate pronotum and the pointed triangular posthumeral projections identify this species. The female lacks the postocular pronotal spine and the costate intervals at the elytral declivities.
Host plant: Label data associates this species with Coccoloba uvifera (Linn.) and Coccoloba leoganensis (Jacquin) .
