Rimularia albotessellata Kantvilas (2014: 350) View in CoL .

Type:— AUSTRALIA. Tasmania, Mt Rogoona summit, 41°54’S 146°12’E, 1350 m alt., on alpine dolerite rocks, 27 November 2012, G. Kantvilas 665/12 (holotype − HO!) GoogleMaps .

Endemic to Tasmania where it is widespread and common on dolerite boulders and outcrops at alpine elevations. This species was originally described in Rimularia and is here transferred to Lambiella chiefly on the basis of apothecial anatomy and ascus structure, but is likely to represent a distinct lineage. Its chemical composition of pannarin and deoxypannarin is not seen in any other member of the genus or family. A full description and discussion of this remarkable lichen is given by Kantvilas (2014).
