( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 )

Thygater (Nectarodiaeta) seabrai Urban 1967 View in CoL ; Urban, Moure & Melo 2012.

Diagnosis. Both pilosity and integument of T. seabrai are almost entirely black and their third submarginal cell is about 1.5 times as long as the second measured on their anterior margins. T. seabrai may be confused with T. paranaensis , but it has four maxillary palpomeres, while T. paranaensis has three. Female T. seabrai can be distinguished by their strongly punctate clypeal disc ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 .A), which is smooth in T. paranaensis ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 .A).

Description ♀: Integument black, except lighter on distal tarsomeres and S6, translucent-amber on marginal zones of S1 – S4; wings dark, densely papillate, veins black; on head almost entirely reticulate, except for smooth and shiny on ocellocular area, coarsely and densely punctate, with shiny discal area on clypeus; on mesosoma reticulate and densely punctate (<1 dp); on metasoma including marginal zones lineolate and densely punctate (<1 dp), T1 with smooth apical area longer than pedicel, on T2 – T4 this area as long as pedicel; on T1; without translucent-amber areas on terga; translucent-amber areas on apex of marginal zones of S1 – S4 longer than pedicel, as long as F2. Pilosity black, except predominantly fuscous on head (black on paraocular areas), venter of mesosoma and on T5 – T6; on mesosoma very dense, hiding the integument on mesoscutum; on metasoma very dense on terga, completely plumose on T1 – T3, with simple setae mixed with plumose pilosity on T4 – T6; on sterna sparse, forming complete apical fringes on S2 – S5 (especially dense on S5), forming dense lateral tufts on S4 – S5; on S6 simple, dense and short. Structure —malar area 1/3 as long as basal mandibular width; clypeus flat, gently convex on disc, its basal depression reaching 1/7 of clypeal length; S6 with mid-longitudinal carina.

♂ (holotype): Integument black, except redish on mandibles and malar area, fuscous on tarsomeres, wings fuscous, with light brown veins, translucent-amber on S2 – S4; on clypeus coarsely punctate, shiny on disc, but without smooth area; on mesosoma reticulate, densely punctate (<1 dp); hind basitarsus parallel-sided; metasoma lineolate, finely and sparsely punctate; smooth apical area of T1 longer than F1, on T2 – T4 as long as F1, on T4 – T6 reticulate; disc of sterna impunctate; translucent-amber areas on apex of marginal zones of S2 – S4 long, longer than F1. Pilosity black except white on head, except vertex and mesosoma fuscous (the latter, darker dorsally, lighter ventrally), whitish on front trochanters, white setae intermingled on T4 – T7; on metasoma entirely plumose, except for simple setae intermingled on T4 – T7, relatively dense, but not hiding integument; on sterna very short and sparse on disc and forming apical fringe on S1 – S4; on S4 forming dense lateral tufts; on S5 densely plumose; on S6 forming a dense longitudinal tuft of plumose hairs on disc. Structure —malar area as long as basal mandibular width; basal depression of clypeus reaching almost 1/5 of clypeal length; clypeus with apicolateral depressions; terga with short translucent-amber areas on apex of marginal zones, shorter than pedicel; T7 emarginated forming two triangular lobes; S5 with two dentiform apical projections; S6 with high lateral carinae, without midlongitudinal carina.

Holotype (male): “17” “COLEÇÃO; CAMPOS SEABRA” “CAMPOS do JORDÃO; 1600 m Est. S. Paulo; BRASIL XI – 1951, K Lenko” “ Thygater ; seabrai ; D. Urban det 67” [DZUP]—examined. (There is also a red label in blank, maybe faded out).

Additional material examined (two specimens 1 ♀ and 1 ♂). BRAZIL MINAS GERAIS: Baependi — 09/04/ 2008, F.A. Silveira 1♀ [ UFMG]. SÃO PAULO: Campos do Jordão —11/1957, K. Lenko 1♂ 1♀ (Paratype) [ DZUP] .

Distribution in Minas Gerais: On the Mantiqueira range and, maybe, in other nearby mountain chains.

Flower records: unknown.
