Comments: Sclerophrys regularis has one of the most widespread distributions of African amphibians. It can be found across most of western Angola, except in the southeastern areas of the country ( Marques et al. 2018. This species remains a taxonomic challenge, given the difficulty in distinguishing it from S. gutturalis (Power, 1927) , and the existence of Angolan records attributed to S. regularis that might represent either S. gutturalis or S. pusilla ( Ruas 1996; Marques et al. 2018). Ferreira (1904) cited adult and juvenile specimens of “ Bufo regularis ” from “Novo Redondo” (MHNCUP/ANF 142), “Cazengo” and “N’dalla Tando” (MHNCUP/ANF 218). Ferreira (1904) also cited adult and juvenile specimens of “ Bufo funereus ” from “Gumba” and “Lembu”, matching extant specimens MHNCUP/ANF 146–147, ANF 191 (Gumba) and MHNCUP/ANF 143 (Lembu). The aforementioned specimens were misidentified by Ferreira as S. funerea (see respective account). Additionally, Ferreira (1906) cited an undetermined number of specimens from an unidentified locality that could correspond to the extant specimens without data. In the same sense, among those specimens might be some that refer to the “ Bufo funereus ” from “Novo Redondo” and “Cabiri” ( Ferreira 1904) and “ Bufo regularis ” from “Cazengo” ( Ferreira 1904) that we were unable to locate.
