status

Trachylepis bayonii ( Bocage, 1872)

Material (two specimens): Two adult specimens (MHNCUP/REP 276–277, formerly UP-MHNFCP-018333 and UP-MHNFCP-040727; Fig. S40 View FIGURE S ), collected from unknown locality, date unknown.

Comments: Trachylepis bayonii is known from central and southwestern Angola, as well as Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, and Tanzania ( Marques et al. 2018). No specimens of T. bayonii were published by Ferreira. Bocage first described this species in 1872 and distinguished between two variations, A and B, from “Duque de Bragança” [=Kalandula], Malanje Province and from Huíla’s highlands, respectively ( Bocage 1872; Marques et al. 2018). Variety B was later described as Mabuya bayoni huilensis by Laurent (1964).
